Much less visible, yet just as crucial, is everything that goes on behind the scenes: a massive operation involving vehicles, people, logistics, medical checks, and support. In this fast-paced world, the role of the official doctor is central—not just for the athletes, but for the entire “village” that follows the race from stage to stage.
Dr. Marco Toderi, a surgeon at the Sant’Anna Clinic in Sorengo, will be one of the official doctors for the Ticino stage, which will take place on May 26. We asked him to share what it means to practice medicine at one of the most beloved sporting events—and one of the most complex to manage from an operational standpoint.
