The facility spans 2,500 square meters across three floors, featuring two operating rooms on the ground floor dedicated to outpatient orthopedic surgery (currently limited to hand surgery), a second floor housing specialist medical offices and a radiology department, and a third floor occupied by a physical therapy department.
The opening of Centromedico Castello comes amid a profound transformation of the Swiss healthcare system, whose guiding principle has become “outpatient care before inpatient care.” All procedures can be performed without requiring the patient to be hospitalized, in line with the guidelines set by the Federal Council, which as early as 2019 had introduced a series of procedures reimbursed by health insurance only if performed on an outpatient basis.
