La Turrita - The new Bellinzona Castello Centre

On Thursday 7 May, the Centromedico Bellinzona Castello was presented to doctors and the press. This multidisciplinary healthcare facility, part of the Swiss Medical Network, brings together orthopaedic, ophthalmological, radiological and physiotherapy expertise under one roof. Located in a fully renovated building at Via Salvioni 2a, which opened in 2025, the Centre houses Ars Medica Bellinzona, the outpatient branch of the Ars Medica Clinic in Gravesano, specialising in orthopaedics and outpatient orthopaedic surgery.

The ground floor houses two operating theatres dedicated to outpatient procedures. The first-floor premises are occupied by Swiss Visio Bellinzona, the first Ticino branch of the Swiss Visio Network’s ophthalmology and ophthalmic surgery network, a group specialising in medical and surgical treatments for all eye conditions, including laser refractive surgery. The second floor houses specialist medical practices and a radiology institute, whilst the third floor features a physiotherapy centre with views of the castles.

According to the promoters, this new medical centre aims to be a hub for integrated carebased on continuity of care: a patient undergoing orthopaedic surgery in the ground-floor operating theatre can have a specialist follow-up consultation on the second floor

and rehabilitation physiotherapy on the third, all under one roof. The opening of an outpatient surgical centre in the heart of Bellinzona meets a specific local need.
