Review: Public Lecture «Human & Robot – Precision for Your Artificial Knee Joint»
Dr Samuel Fleischmann and Dr Daniel Wüst, specialists in orthopaedic surgery and traumatology of the musculoskeletal system, began the evening with a presentation offering guests a clear and accessible insight into modern knee surgery. They explained the various treatment options available for knee osteoarthritis, outlined ways to relieve pain without surgery, and discussed when an artificial knee joint may be considered.
A particular focus was placed on the different options currently available for treating knee problems. The speakers clearly explained the factors that play a role in selecting an appropriate treatment and how modern techniques can support patient care.
In the second part of the evening, the focus shifted to robotic technology in knee surgery. During a live demonstration using a model, the two knee specialists illustrated how modern robotic technology assists the surgeon when implanting an artificial knee joint. The practical demonstration allowed guests to gain a clear understanding of how the technology works and provided a first-hand insight into its use during knee surgery.
The apéro that followed provided an opportunity for guests to ask questions and speak personally with the two specialists.
